Mod:Warning a member
From BLWiki
Warning a member is often a last resort. There are two methods available to you, dependant upon what the member has done. For normal, day-to-day warnings, please follow Method 1. Where a warning needs to be issued for a non-post related issue (such as PM abuse), please follow Method 2.
- Before warning a member, you might wish to review the member's warning history by clicking on the appropriate option in-thread.
- This will take you to the member's warning history page. You can appraise the individual's past behaviour and act accordingly.
- It is also worth running a search in both "Reported Posts" and "Warnings/Alerts" to see if the member has been causing trouble in other forums. This will help you build a slightly better picture of their cross-forum behaviour.
- If you decide to issue a warning, it can be performed by clicking on the appropriate option in-thread.
- This will take you to the warning page. You'll notice that the warning about to be issued is specifically-related to the post ID. You now have four options in the drop-down menu. Specify the appropriate warning type. Additionally, add a descriptive comment to explain the warning. This description will be sent to the warned member and will also show up on the member's warning history (making review by other moderators easier).
- Click "Add Warning" and the warning will be issued.
- Where a warning needs to be issued for a non-post related issue (such as PM abuse), select a random post from the member
- Click on their name
- Select "View Profile".
- On the member's profile, you have the option to view their warning history and to also issue a non-post related warning. Select that option.
- This will take you to the warning page. You'll notice that the warning about to be issued IS NOT specifically-related to any post ID. You now have two options in the drop-down menu - "Gallery abuse "and "PM abuse" (although most mods will only use the latter). Specify the appropriate warning type and add a descriptive comment to explain the warning. This description will be sent to the warned member and will also show up on the member's warning history (making review by other moderators easier).
- Click "Add Warning" and the warning will be issued.
